At least one Palestinian man and an international activist were injured on Friday (July 2), after Israeli settlers attacked the residents of Khirbet Abu Falah during protests, according to local officials.
The attack started when residents of villages in the area, including international activists, walked toward agricultural land, so that owners could get access to their properties amid several recent attacks by Israeli settlers who they said attempt to seize their land.
Witnesses said Israeli settlers confronted the residents, blocking their way and prevented them from reaching the farmland.
An old Palestinian man and an international activist were reportedly injured after settlers attacked the residents with pepper spray, hurled stones and used sticks, according to locals.
Around 700,000 Israeli settlers live among 3.4 million Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, territories Israel captured from Jordan in the 1967 war, which Palestinians see as part of a future state.
A U.N. inquiry released last month found that Israeli authorities were directly involved in settler attacks that have killed, injured and displaced Palestinians in the West Bank.
