HELSINGBORG, SWEDEN: NATO has to be good for all those involved, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday (May 22) ahead of a NATO meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, adding that he expects the meeting will set the groundwork for the NATO leaders summit in Ankara, Turkey later this year.
Speaking with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Rubio stressed closer cooperation, particularly to strengthen the defence industrial base, warning current munitions production falls short of future needs.
Rubio also said that a tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz by Iran would be unacceptable and would set a precedent for other nations to force similar tolls through other strategically important waterways.
